I recently found the amazing Wheel of Time series from Robert Jordan. I had avoided it in the past becuase of the so-so cover art and the fact that most fantasy books are too flowery for me. To many happy pixies and unicorns on strange worlds with 3 headed creatures, etc. Anyway, this series can be very dark and gory and our hero Rand is very reluctant to be chosen as the man that will save the world.

In this "scene" he is fighting an onslaught of the Dark Lords creatures called Trollocs in the Stone of Tear. This is the point in the series that Rand has to admit that he realy is the Dragon Reborn, like it or not.
